The HEART/NSTA Trust envisions a Jamaica where citizens are skilled, empowered, and actively engaged in nation-building and global impact. This vision continuously drives the Trust to work at the grassroots level, improving the lives of ordinary Jamaicans.

Labour Day 2026 provided an ideal mechanism to manifest this vision. Beyond observing the national holiday, cross-regional activities allowed the Trust to strengthen its National Volunteering Programme through targeted restoration efforts.

Teams executed vital repairs at key training facilities—including the Garmex Academy and the HEART College of Beauty Services—while simultaneously restoring hurricane-ravaged spaces in St. Elizabeth, St. Ann and Trelawny.

The National Volunteer Initiative in Lionel Town

Energised by the national theme, “One People, One Purpose: In all things Jamaica Wins,” the Pawsey Park Community Centre in Lionel Town, Clarendon, became a focal point of civic activity. Over 80 HEART/NSTA team members volunteered their time to work alongside residents.

Supported by preparatory landscaping completed by the Ebony Park Academy two days prior, volunteers engaged in extensive de-bushing, painting, structural repairs, and beautification.

Community Impact:

Residents expressed deep gratitude for the restoration, noting that the revitalised space allows community youth to safely access the playground once more. Furthermore, clearing the dense overgrowth eliminates a critical blind spot previously exploited for illicit activities, directly improving public safety.

Through these combined efforts, the HEART/NSTA Trust team demonstrated the true power of corporate social responsibility, turning a national holiday into a lasting contribution to community development and security.
