Career Advisory
The HEART/NSTA Trust offers Career Advisory Services as a core component of its mandate to support workforce readiness. Career Development Officers (CDOs)/Career Services Officers (CSOs) provide individualized guidance to trainees, including career exploration, goal setting, employability enhancement through timetabled classes, and job search preparation. The services also extend to resume development, interview techniques, and referrals to employment or further training opportunities. Career Advisory ensures that trainees are equipped to make informed career decisions and transition effectively into the labour market.
Getting you “Job Ready”
Available at our regional and parish offices, our Job Readiness service is designed to help prepare you for entry into the workplace. Learn the ins and outs of skilled resume writing, best practices for your job interview, and the key attitudes and behaviours you need to embrace in order to keep you employed.

Diagnostic & Psychometric Testing
Available at HEART regional and parish offices as well as online, diagnostic assessments are designed to determine your literacy and numeracy levels. Psychometric assessments, on the other hand, are designed to measure your behavioural and learning style. Both types of assessments are offered in order to help determine the appropriate HEART training programme for you.
Mobile Learning & Assessment
In an effort to increase access to assessment and training throughout the country, mobile learning and assessment is being offered through the use of portable training labs.
Currently, there are 3 mobile career coaches and 5 mobile training labs, equipped to offer training and assessment in the following areas:
- Welding
- Electronics
- Culinary Arts
- Computer Skills
- Renewable Energy
Recommendation for Certification
Based on the assessment services currently offered by NCTVET (National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training), HEART validates the competencies of trainees, and where appropriate, makes recommendations to the NCTVET for a range of award types.
NCTVET’s assessment services are offered to public and private institutions, companies and individuals 4 times for the year: in January, June, September and December. The service is accessed through the NCTVET registrar or the registrars of Accredited Training Institutions (ATOs).
